Standing Again for Elmdon Ward in 2026 (Unofficial Announcement)

Hello, I’m Paul Edwards. In May 2024 I stood as an Independent Candidate for Elmdon Ward in Solihull. I’m sharing this unofficial announcement to confirm my intention to stand again as an Independent in the 2026 local elections.

(Formal nominations are not yet open and are expected in early 2026, this statement is for information only.)

A Quick Look Back at 2024

In the 2024 Solihull local elections held on 2 May 2024, I appeared on the ballot as an Independent candidate for Elmdon Ward alongside other party candidates. According to the official Solihull Council results, I received 107 votes (around 3%).

My campaign focused on local accountability, community voice, and better access to health and social care, priorities that remain central to me today. With over a decade of experience in the health and social care sector looking after a family member and training carers up. I have always believed that our community deserves practical, compassionate, and transparent local representation.

Since Then, A Lot Has Changed

In October 2024, I suffered a stroke. This was a life-changing event that has affected many parts of my daily life. Twelve months on, I find myself, despite always being someone who tries to stay independent heavily reliant on our Health and Social Care sector. I cannot thank enough the dedicated medical teams and care professionals who continue to help me on my journey toward regaining independence. Your professionalism, patience, and kindness have made an immeasurable difference to me.

Why I’m Standing Again in 2026

My recovery has given me new perspective and even stronger motivation to serve. I believe in:

✅ Joined-up health and social care that treats people with dignity.
✅ Practical local support -safer neighbourhoods, accessible transport, and responsive services.
✅ Transparency and accountability in how decisions are made for our area.

I remain Independent, because I firmly believe Elmdon residents deserve a voice that puts people before party.

 What I Bring

  • Over a decade of hands-on experience in health & social care.

  • First-hand understanding of our care system as both a educational professional and a service-user.

  • A proven commitment to listen, act, and advocate for practical solutions, not political headlines.

 A Note on Protocol

This is an unofficial pre-announcement. Formal nominations for the 2026 local elections are not yet open. I’ll make a full, official statement once the nomination period begins in early 2026.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Let’s keep working together for a stronger, fairer Elmdon.
